Phacoemulsification is a method of surgery in which the internal lens of the eye is emulsified with an ultrasonic handpiece and aspirated from the eye. the fluids are then replaced with a salt solution to maintain the anterior chamber.
Before the procedure, one or more incisions are made in the eye to allow the space for surgical instruments insertion. After which surgeon removes the anterior face of the capsule containing the lens.
"The surgeries were performed between 6 a.m and 10.30 p.m. continuously for 16-and-a-half hours on February 25. All the patients are doing fine now after a week of observation," he told reporters.
