Bihar: Woman Dies After Quack Conducts Illegal Abortion, Feeds Foetus To Dog

Hajipur: An incident of illegal abortion has been reported from Bihar's Hajipur, where a quack is currently on the run after performing an illegal abortion on a woman who passed away due to his alleged medical negligence.
The woman died after her health deteriorated following the abortion and the quack allegedly fed the foetus to a dog, said the woman's family. Her family has filed an FIR in this regard against the quack.

The deceased woman's family said that she had approached the quack after she began experiencing abdominal pain. Her condition began to worsen after she took the medicines prescribed by the quack and subsequently got a miscarriage.
A relative of the deceased woman said, "The quack conducted the operation using scissors and kept the foetus in a bucket. When we asked for the baby to conduct the last rites, he denied saying that he would be arrested if he left behind any evidence. The doctor said that he would feed the foetus to his pet dog. We kept telling him to give the baby to us but he did not listen."
She was taken to Patna due to her poor health condition, where she passed away after eleven days. The family members alleged that the operation performed by the quack damaged the internal organs of the woman, and the doctor and his wife are currently on the run, reports India Today.
However, stating that the allegations related to feeding the foetus to a dog have not been proven, Mahua sub-divisional police officer Poonam Kesri said, "Family members of a pregnant woman said that her condition worsened after an abortion was conducted by a local doctor. The case is under investigation and we are taking the views of medical experts. But the claim that the foetus was fed to a dog has not been true in the investigation till now."
