Unfortunate: Jharkhand Based 53-Year-Old Govt Doctor Succumbs To COVID

Jharkhand: In a tragic incident, a Jharkhand based government doctor serving at a Community Health Centre succumbed to COVID after contracting the disease while being on duty.
The deceased has been identified as a 53-year-old doctor who was serving at a government COVID facility in Jugsalai and was the first case in Jamshedpur where a doctor passed away after contracting the disease while serving at a COVID facility.
The doctor passed away in Tata Main's Hospital where he was under treatment for COVID.

According to TOI report, the doctor along with his wife was tested COVID positive after which he was admitted to the Tata Main Hospital a week ago. They were undergoing treatment in the COVID facility of the hospital.
East Singhbhum civil surgeon Mr. Jha informed Times of India that the deceased doctor was diabetic and was struggling with his health condition since the past 7 days of treatment. Meanwhile, his condition declined and he passed away on Thursday.
At a time like this when health workers, especially doctors are offering their services day and night in order to handle the pandemic scenario, the demise of a COVID warrior has brought grief into the medical community.
One of the colleagues of the deceased Dr Mritynjay Singh who is also the secretary of the local chapter of the Indian Medical Association expressed his condolences over the demise of the doctor and told the daily that "on Friday an IMA delegation will meet the East Singhbhum DC to appraise him about the problems being faced by the doctors." He stated that the government needs to take initiative to ensure safety for the doctors extending their services in government medical COVID facilities.
