RG Kar Case: Delhi Resident Doctors To Stage Protest Outside Bengal Bhawan

New Delhi: Due to the unfulfillment of their demands regarding justice for Abhaya, a PG trainee doctor who was allegedly brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Resident doctors under the Joint Delhi RDA Action Committee have announced a protest in front of Bengal Bhawan this evening.
Claiming that the sensitivity of the matter has increased and so has the insensitivity of the concerned authorities, the committee has decided to intensify their protest today at 6.00 pm in front of Bengal Bhawan and also announced that a joint press conference will take place by Delhi RDAs on 17th October 2024.
In a press release dated October 15th, the committee expressed dissatisfaction with the West Bengal government and the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India for their inability to take action against the injustice faced by their colleagues in Bengal.

"The sensitivity of the matter has increased and so does the insensitivity of the concerned authorities and if any mishappening occurs with any resident doctor/healthcare worker of the fraternity, we will be forced to immediate withdrawal of all elective services and emergency services alike," said the committee in their press release.
Urging the CBI to take appropriate action against the culprits to provide justice to Abhaya, the committee stated the following demands-
1. Abhijit Mondal and Sandip Ghosh have been arrested but have not been named in the first chargesheet. They should be named in the chargesheet.
2. Criminal inquiry and suspension of Health Secretary WB for ordering renovation of the crime scene that led to the destruction of evidence.
3. CBI must interrogate suspects in Vandalism and demolition in RG Kar on the night of 14 August 2024
4. Fix accountability of administrative failures and police officials for poor handling of cases and evidence.
Highlighting the absence of concrete steps towards justice for Abhaya, the victim in the case, the committee said, "State government has failed in winning the confidence of our colleagues in West Bengal which perpetrated a ground of injustice and forced our colleagues to take a stringent measure by going on hunger strike till death in West Bengal.
We have high hopes from Hon'ble Supreme court of India but prioritizing vacations over justice is injustice to the healers of the nation, and we request all the authorities and governments to be sensitive in this matter and show urgency in delivering justice to the daughter of the nation- ABHAYA."
Further, they asked the Bengal government to fulfil other demands of the doctors which are genuine to end the deadlock.
