Punjab issues health advisory to tackle winter-related illnesses

Amritsar:The PunjabHealth Departmenthas issued a comprehensive winter advisory ahead of the seasonal temperature drop, urging the general public—especially children, the elderly, and individuals with heart orrespiratory conditions—to take special precautions to avoid cold-related illnesses. The advisory warns that the sudden drop in temperatures in the coming weeks may lead to a rise in respiratory infections, influenza, and other winter-related ailments. Health officials have stressed the importance of wearing warm clothing, especially covering the head, ears, and feet, and avoiding exposure to cold winds, particularly during early mornings and late evenings. Parents are encouraged to ensure their children are well-protected from the cold, consume a healthy diet, and stay hydrated to strengthen their immune systems. To further reduce the risk of seasonal illnesses, the Health Department has advised the public to get vaccinated against the flu, maintain good indoor ventilation, and keep living spaces warm and dry.
