Days ago, the investigating agency had arrested the professor from the university’s Department of Medicine for allegedly maintaining contact with suspected operatives, including the radicalised doctors behind the explosion in Delhi and the one who reportedly drove the Hyundai Car to the blast scene that carried the bomb. The agency has tightened its grip on Al-Falah University following the Delhi blast. According to UNI sources, the professor had been under scrutiny even before joining Al-Falah University. He was dismissed by the Jammu & Kashmir administration in 2023 while serving as an assistant professor at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar over activities deemed detrimental to state security. His alleged links with the radicalised doctors reportedly eased his appointment at Al-Falah, where no thorough background verification was conducted. Following his arrest, agencies have turned their attention to his family. His wife, who works as a gynaecologist at the university hospital, and his daughter, a second-year MBBS student, are being questioned inside their residence on campus. Their phones have been confiscated, and they have been instructed not to leave or communicate with anyone as the investigation continues. Officials have also restricted the movement of ten MBBS students, barring them from leaving the campus while their mobile phones remain seized for forensic analysis. Call records, chats, and stored data are being examined to trace possible links in the network. An officer told The Tribune, "Dr Nisar’s wife and daughter are under house arrest at his home on the university campus, and the investigating agency has confined both of them to their home. After questioning them, their mobile phones have been confiscated. The agency is now examining its mobile data. Both have been prohibited from leaving their homes or communicating with anyone."
