Hyderabad: Recruitment of Staff Nurses in Telangana

Ahead of the start of the new academic year at the newly established nine medical colleges in Telangana, the state government has decided to recruit an additional 1,827 staff nurses.

A health department official said, "Permission from the government has to be taken for the health department to conduct direct recruitment of nurses. The department had written to the government asking for permission, and it was granted on April 30."

On 30th December 2022, the Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB) of the Telangana government released a recruitment notice for 5,204 staff nurses. With the current recruitments, the total number of staff nurses posts would come up to 7,031, with each medical college receiving around 203 staff nurses.

The team had earlier reported about the nine new medical colleges being set up in the state, which was slated to begin their admission process in 2023. The nine newly established medical colleges are located in:

  • Karimnagar
  • Khammam
  • Kamareddy
  • Vikarabad
  • Jangaon
  • Nirmal
  • Jayashankar-Bhupalpally
  • Sircilla
  • Asifabad districts

The Directorate of Medical Education and Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare had 3,823 vacancies, Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad had 757, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society had 197, Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society had 127, Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society had 124, MNJ Institute of Oncology had 81, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society had 74, Telangana Residential Education Institutional Society had 13, and Department of Disabled and Senior Citizens Welfare had 8 vacancies.

As per a media report in the Hindu, the recruitment test would be based on a 100-point system, out of which the percentage of marks obtained in the written examination would constitute 80 points and the remaining 20 points for their service in state government hospitals/institutions/programmes.
