Telangana announces revamp for Osmania Medical College Hospitals

Hyderabad:TelanganaHealth MinisterDamodar Rajanarsimhahas directed officials to prepare detailed proposals for the comprehensive modernisation of the hospitals affiliated with Osmania Medical College (OMC), one of India’s most prestigious medical institutions. The directive, issued on Tuesday, aimed at upgrading the infrastructure and creating state-of-the-art facilities in the government teaching hospitals. He said he would personally visit all the hospitals to review patient services, reports theDeccan Chronicle. While several colleges already had appointed heads in place, the remaining vacancies were filled through a Government Order (GO) issued by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu. The order formalises the temporary promotion of a panel of 44 senior faculty members, including special grade professors and professors, as Additional Directors of Medical Education (ADME) and institutional heads. The government has nearly completed the promotion process for 308 associate professors to full professors, which will resolve the shortage of department heads and senior faculty across government institutions.
