States Request Extension For MDS Admissions, DCI Issues Notice

Delhi: The Dental Council of India has issued a notice regarding the request for an extension of the dates of uploading MDS students details on the DCI Website since the counselling process is not yet completed for MDS course in the states of Haryana, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
The notice was issued on 25th November 2021 and is addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Haryana, Medical Education and Research Department and the Principal Secretaries, Health & Family Welfare, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Government of Karnataka.
Dental colleges from the states of Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka have requested the DCI to extend the dates of uploading MDS students details on DCI Website since the counseling process is not yet completed.
It should be noted that MDS counselling had gotten severely delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the counselling process began only in the month of August 2021.
Through the notice, the DCI has further reiterated that the decision to push forward the last dates for MDS admissions lies in the hands of the central government. It has also directed the three states to approach the Central Government for extension of last date of admission into MDS Courses for the academic session 2021-22.
Further, the notice has also declared that in case the Central Government decided not to extend the date of admission, then, no admission will be considered valid taken beyond the last date i.e. 20th November 2021 for MDS Courses for the academic session 2021-22.
The notice was signed by Ms. Kamini Uppal, Assistant Secretary, Dental Council of India.
