The fully air-conditioned ward with 20 beds has become functional in a full-fledged manner from Tuesday. Dr Thakur also informed that the construction of the chief minister’s dream project of establishing a 5,500-bed cancer department is underway and will be completed soon, reports a daily.
The PMCH received the new building made from a prefabricated construction near the gynaecology and inpatient unit before the cancer ward was pulled down.
Dr Thakur told the Times of India, "This arrangement has been devised at the PMCH to ensure that the cancer ward continues to operate without interruption. In addition to the cancer ward, cobalt therapy will be relocated on the hospital’s grounds because PMCH is the only hospital in the state that offers this service to patients."
Buildings or subassemblies that have been entirely or largely built or put together utilizing closed construction at an off-site location before being constructed on-site are known as prefabricated structures.
One of the buildings being rebuilt is the surgical emergency registration desk in the emergency facility. Prior to the original house guard room being demolished, the guard room barracks for home guards underwent renovation and development as well.
team had earlier reported that around 75-year-old iconic heritage PMCH, which was then called Patna Medical College and Hospital faces dismantling for a redevelopment project.
