Jaipur:Taking cognisance of the "unapproved" 15 per cent management quotaMBBS seatsat private medical colleges, the Rajasthan Government has issued a strict warning to those institutions and asked them only to charge the fee authorised by the state-level fee regulatory committee. Furthermore, the State Government has also instructed medical colleges to refund the excess fee collected at an annual interest rate of 12%. This comes after the Department of Medical Education found that some private colleges on theRajasthan NEET UG Counselling 2025website advertised 15% of their seats as "management quota" and were demanding higher fees. This, the DME said, had not been approved by the State Fee Regulatory Committee. Complying with the Supreme Court in its order dated 14.08.2003, in the case of Islamic Academy of Education vs State of Karnataka, a state-level fee regulatory committee was constituted by the departmental order dated October 29, 2003, to regulate fee structure in private medical colleges across Rajasthan. However, allegedly, the private medical colleges were charging MBBS fees for the management quota seats even though the same was not cleared by the fee committee. Also Read: Fee Shocker: Rs 1.1 Crore Annual Fee for MD Medicine, Rs 1.45 Crore for MD Radiodiagnosis in Rajasthan As per the latest media report byCareers 360, considering these rules, the Rajasthan Government has now issued seven-point directives to all private medical colleges and all the private and dental institutes have been instructed to strictly follow the fee structure approved by the State Fee Regulatory Committee. In this regard, the Government's official statement mentioned, "No institution shall charge any additional amount other than the fees fixed by the committee. If any excess amount is collected from students, colleges must refund it with 12% annual interest to the concerned student." The Daily has reported that apart from issuing the instruction to comply with the Fee Panel's directives, the State Government has also warned that the affiliation with theRajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS)and Marwar Medical University (MMU) will be terminated if a college failed to refund the excess amount. Further, the State has announced in the circular that it would recover the amount from the institution’s movable and immovable property and return it to the students. Therefore, if in such cases, a private medical college loses its affiliation, the students admitted to the institute will be shifted to other medical colleges, and their financial burden will be recovered from the respective institute. The State further added that the medical education department will recommend punitive action against such colleges to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Dental Council of India (DCI).
