Rajasthan lowers MBBS fees for NRI quota by 7 lakh

Rajasthan-In order to make the medical education more affordable in Rajasthan, MBBS fees for non-resident Indian (NRI) students have reportedly been revised. The new fees will be applicable from the current academic year, i.e. 2025-26. This was recently announced by the state cabinet, led by CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, that theMBBSfees in Rajasthan have been reduced for the NRI quota in medical institutions run by the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES). MBBS fee 2025-26 forNRI quotastudents has been fixed at Rs 23.9 lakh per year for each student. Currently, the MBBS course fee in Rajasthan is Rs 31 lakh per candidate per year, according to the report byShiksha. Meanwhile, while speaking to the media after the conclusion of the cabinet meeting, Deputy CM Prem Chand Bairwa also highlighted the major revision in MBBS fees in Rajasthan. Bairwa said this exorbitant cost had discouraged many talented NRI students, leading to vacant seats that were often converted to management quota seats at a much lower fee, resulting in substantial revenue losses to the state. This move has been taken to attract more NRI candidates to enrol in the MBBS program in the state. Currently, the Rajasthan medical education department is conducting the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET UG) Round 2 counselling registration for the academic year 2025.
