Ahmedabad: In the latest incidence of conmen duping medical seat aspirants on the pretext of securing admission in medical colleges in lieu of a capitation fee, a Sola doctor has filed a complaint of fraud against three persons who pretended to help him secure an MS seat at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion.
As per a recent report by Mirror, a 27-year-old MBBS graduate and PG aspirant, a resident of Shukan residency near Vande Mataram circle in Gota, who works at GMERS Vadnagar has filed a complaint with Sola High Court police station of being duped of Rs 31,50,000 in September last year by two middlemen, Jay Govani And Salim Patel, and assistant dean of Sion Hospital, who had promised him admission in Master of Surgery course at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion.
earlier reported about the modus operandi of the PG medical seat racket in connection with the Sion Hospital. In December last year, the Mumbai Police arrested Verma in several cases of MBBS doctors being duped of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing PG seats through middlemen.

In the present case concerning the MS aspirant, tt all started when the complainant who was preparing for NEET PG since January 2020, was contacted by one of the accused Jay Govani on 7 Sept 2020 and offered assistance in getting MS seat in Sion Medical College.
According to an FIR filed at Sola High Court police station, the accused asked the complainant doctor to visit Mumbai. The doctor went to Mumbai with his father. On reaching Mumbai Jay Govani and Salim Patel met him at Sion Hospital and later made him meet the assistant dean, who assured him of a seat in PG course if he follows whatever Govani says. Govani then introduced the father-son duo to another student a doctor and his father.
In his complaint, the doctor alleged that Govani demanded Rs 50 lakh for the admission in two instalments. Govani insisted that the payments be made through angadia but they refused and insisted on paying through bank transfer. They also paid him Rs 2 lakh in cash on the spot. Payments of Rs 31.5 lakh were later done between September 11 and 21 to Govani's bank account through different transactions.
On September 30, 2020, the complainant doctor and his father again traveled to Mumbai to meet Govani.The suspicion grew when Govani switched off his phone and went untraceable. They then rushed to meet the assistant dean who assured them that the admission process will begin from October 5,2020.
All three accused kept on giving him false assurances that his classes will begin once my registration is done, however, to date, nothing happened, he alleged.
Realizing that he had been cheated, the aspirant decided to lodge a police complaint of fraud of Rs 31,50,00 against the accused dean, Govani, and Salim Patel, reports Mirror.
Police have filed an FIR based on the complaint. No accused has been named in the FIR but an investigation against the accused has been initiated. A case of fraud, criminal breach of trust, and criminal conspiracy under IPC sections, has been lodged.
