Pune: An FIR was registered against two people in Pune for defrauding three people, an agribusinessman, a teacher and a bank official, of Rs 22.1 lakh by promising them Ayurveda degree seats for their children in BAMS courses. The FIR was registered by Maharashtra's Bharati Vidyapeeth Police on Tuesday.
The incident took place on October 8 and November 2 last year, where the two fraudsters had also promised to help the agribusinessman, teacher and bank officer get seats in another college for their children, but nothing happened.

Based on the complaint, senior inspector of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police, Mohan Deshmukh told Times of India that “The victims, whose children were keen to secure admission in BAMS courses, came in contact with a person who helps students get admission to medical colleges through an acquaintance. They shared their credentials, including their name, address, Aadhaar details, etc. They failed to repay the money, and hence we registered the complaint. The two accused appeared before the inquiry officer and vowed to refund the money to the victims”.
In seeking to get BAMS course admissions for their children, the three victims trusted the accused and also made several payments through RTGS, online transactions and cash. Later, when they came to know that their children's names were not on the final merit list of the college, they realised that they had been cheated. Therefore, the three victims asked the suspects to return their money, but the suspects did not return the money despite promising to do so.

The police officer further narrated, “The suspect issued them bogus receipts and allotment letters from a college in Katraj. The victims realised they were duped when the college’s final merit list did not have their children’s names.
Pune Dhankawadi Campus also known as Katraj Campus is located in Pune, Maharashtra. Students from 17 constituent institutions come here not only for academics but also for their personal development. The college also accesses medical facilities at the Bharati Hospital, Ayurveda and Homeopathic Hospital for the students.
