PCI Grants Final Window for Pharmacy Colleges to Submit Pending Data for 2025-26 Approval

New Delhi:The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has granted a final opportunity to pharmacy institutions applying for approval under Section 12 (U/S 12) of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, for the academic session 2025-2026, to submit their pending additional information. This came in response to multiple representations from institutions that could not upload the required details in the Standard Inspection Format (SIF), the PCI has reopened its online portal from September 9 to September 15, 2025. Regarding the above, the notice stated, "It was noted that various representations received from institutions that they could not filled additional information for u/s 12 in the SIF and requested for give some more time to fill the information. In view of above, it was decided to open portal for such institutions from 09.09.2025 to 15.09.2025 as the final opportunity failing which application will not be considered for approval u/s 12 for 2025-2026 academic session." Section 12 of the Act empowers PCI to approve courses of study in pharmacy so that the qualifications awarded by institutions are recognized for registration as pharmacists. Without this approval, students graduating from such institutions cannot register as pharmacists or practice legally. Earlier the Team had reported that the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) had issued a final reminder to pharmacy institutions seeking approval under Section 12 for the 2025-26 academic session, directing them to submit complete additional information between August 26 and August 31, 2025. Institutions have been directed to ensure that every tab of the additional information section is completely filled. In line with this, the notice stated, " It is hereby given the last opportunity to submit the complete additional information and ensure that each and every tab should be filled for considering approval u/s 12 for the 2025-2026 academic session." The Council has made it clear that this is the last opportunity. Any institution failing to submit the complete details within this period will not be considered for approval under Section 12 for the 2025–2026 academic session, and their application will stand rejected. The notification has also been communicated to all State Pharmacy Councils and examining authorities, including universities and boards, to ensure compliance.
