Paradip Incident Report

A medical officer has been suspended for allegedly molesting a nurse on duty at Paradip Port Hospital.

An FIR was registered against the doctor based on a complaint by the health worker, following which, the authorities of Paradip Port Trust suspended him while a report of the hospital's internal complaints committee is awaited.

As per a recent media report in The New Indian Express, on Tuesday night, the nurse was on duty when the doctor allegedly grabbed her hand and forced himself on her. The victim alleged that when she tried to stop him, he molested her by touching her inappropriately.

The nurse then filed a complaint with the hospital authorities, however, no action was taken against the doctor, sources told the daily. Eventually, she approached the Paradip Model police and lodged an FIR on Friday.

Acting on the complaint, police booked the doctor for allegedly outraging the modesty of a nurse while she was on duty.

Paradip Model IIC Rajanikant Mishra informed that they have already questioned the doctor regarding the incident and served him a notice under section 41 of CrPC after which he was released, reports The New Indian Express.

"We are waiting for the report of the hospital's internal complaints committee and further investigation is on," he added.

Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital Prahallad Panda informed that until the investigation ends, the authorities of Paradip Port Trust have suspended the doctor on Saturday.
