Odisha: Doctor Dies Of COVID At KIMS

Odisha: Yet in another unfortunate incident of frontline health workers succumbing to COVID, an Orissa based doctor passed away after holding a long fight against the virus.
The doctor attached to Lathikata Primary Health Centre (PHC) was tested COVID positive at the beginning of this month. He was undergoing treatment at the COVID facility of KIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar where he passed away at 2.30 am on 28th August.

After facing some health complications, he took a COVID test. He was tested COVID positive on August 3 and was immediately rushed to the Hi-Tech COVID hospital. However, he had to be shifted to KIMS hospital after which his health condition declined. After putting up a brave fight against the virus for more than 20 days, he eventually passed away on 28th August.
His wife was reportedly undergoing treatment in the Rourkela. After she got the news of the demise of her husband, she has requested the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make necessary arrangements so that the body can be brought to Rourkela.
Sambad reports that she said in her appeal that "My husband was COVID Warrior and Odisha Government should help us in this hour of distress." At a time like this when the doctors have been attributed as COVID warriors as they are working day and night to contain the pandemic, another death of a COVID warrior has brought grief into the medical community.
This is the second death of a COVID warrior in Rourkela within two weeks. Last week, a 60-year-old doctor of Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) also passed away after being infected by COVID. He was undergoing treatment at Hi-Tech COVID Hospital. That deceased doctor was given the guard of honor by the local police.
