NMC Nod To Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Medical College For Starting MD Community Medicine With 4 Seats

Rajnandgaon: Bringing good news to the PG medical aspirants in Chhattisgarh, the National Medical Commission has given its nod to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Medical College for starting of MD Community Medicine course in 4 seats for the academic year of 2021-2022.
Apart from this, the institute is also providing PG medical admission in MS Opthalmology (2 seats), MS Otorhinolaryngology (2 seats), MD Anaesthesiology (3 seats). So the institute has altogether 11 PG medical seats in four different specialties.
Regarding the MD Community Medicine, the nod from NMC, the apex medical regulator came in December.
In the Letter of Permission directed to the Dean/Principal of the institute, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC wrote, "In continuation to this office Letter dated 27th October 2021 seeking information and your acceptance of the conditions mentioned therein vide letter date: 03rd November 2021. We convey that your application for Starting of MD (Community Medicine) course for 04 (Four) seats was approved for the academic year 2021-2022."
"Approved for 04 (Four) seats u/s 26(1)(a)(b) and 28(1) (2) of the NMC Act, 2019 for the academic year 2021-2022, as amended," further mentioned the letter dated 20.12.2021.

"This Permission for Starting of above mentioned PG course and admission of students will be for such time the first batch of students adnitted against the above course appears for the final examination in the subject. The college authorities may take up the matter for recognition of the qualification under section 35(2) of the NMC Act, 2019 with National Medical Commission (NMC), at the time of final examination of the first batch of students admitted against the sanctioned seats," read the letter.
"We are further directed to inform that you and your institution is fully responsible to fulfil and maintain norms including the infrastructure both physical and human resource, teaching faculty and clinical material, etc. throughout the academic year, as stipulated in Regulation of National Medical Commission (NMC). In case false/wrong declaration or fabricated documents have been used for procuring permission of the MARB and any misconduct is brought to the notice of National Medical Commission (NMC) or found during surprise assessment at any stage during the current academic year, your institution is liable, not to be considered for recognition of the degree. This letter of permission will be revoked for the current academic year in such exigency arise. Besides, National Medical Commissiorn (NMC) is entitled to take all such measure against you and your college/institution as permissible under the law," it added.
"It is mandatory for the government medical colleges to contribute 15% of MBBS seats and 50% of Post Graduate Broad Specialities (MD/MS) for All India Quota respectively, to MCC of DGHS for conduction of counselling as per the Directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court," NMC reminded in the LOP.
Accordingly, the college in a letter dated 03.01.2022, wrote to the DMER Raipur to inform them regarding the number of PG medical seats in the institute. As per the data provided by the medical college, it has 2 seats in MS Opthalmology and 1 seat is reserved for All India Quota.
Apart from these, there are 2 seats in MS Otorhinolaryngology including 1 AIQ seat, and 3 seats in MS Anaesthesiology including 1 AIQ seat. Among the 4 Community Medicine seats, 2 seats are reserved for the AIQ, revealed the data.
Recently, the DMER Raipur, in a notification dated 19.01.2022 clarified about the inclusion of MD Community Medicine course in the institute and informed the students that the applicants may include their choice of the MD Community Medicine specialty until 23:00 Hrs. on 20.01.2022 .
