NMC Extends Deadline For Universities To Complete Final Exams Of PG Broad Speciality Students 2021 Batch Till January 31st 2025

New Delhi: The Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has extended the deadline for completing the final examination of the 2021 PG batch.
Although earlier the Apex Medical Commission had asked the medical universities to complete the academic curriculum including the final examination for 2021 batch PG Broad Speciality Degree Students by 31.12.2024, the deadline has now been extended till 31.01.2025.
This comes after NMC received representations from a few Universities urging the Commission to postpone the deadline. Consequently, PGMEB conducted a meeting with all the Universities on 31st July 2024 and in the meeting, the decision to extend the deadline was taken.
had earlier reported that by issuing a notice on the examination schedule of the PG Broad Speciality students who were admitted in 2021, the PG Board of NMC had directed the medical institutes to complete the academic curriculum including the conduct of the examination of the concerned students by 31st December 2024.
NMC PG Board had issued the notice after noting that some of the medical Universities were not sticking to the schedule prescribed by the notice dated 11.01.2022.

Through the notice dated 11.01.2022, the NMC PG Board had considered the delay in starting of the Broad Speciality Courses on the account of COVID pandemic in 2021 and decided that all academic sessions for Broad Speciality courses for the year 2021 would commence from 1st February, 2022. Back then, the Commission had clarified that the academic curriculum of the diploma and degree courses should be completed by 31st December 2023 and 31st December 2024 respectively, adding that the Degree and Diploma students should complete the required period of 36 and 24 months respectively to complete the course.
However, NMC has now extended the deadline for completing the final examination of the 2021 PG Batch. Issuing a notice on 07.08.2024, NMC mentioned, "Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), National Medical Commission vide public notice dated 13.06.2024 has requested all the Universities to complete the academic curriculum including conducting of final examination by 31.12.2024 of PG Broad Specialty Degree students who had taken admission in the Academic Year 2021."
"Representations, were received from a few Universities to postpone the deadline of 31st December 2024. Accordingly, a meeting was conducted by PGMEB with all the universities on 31st July 2024 wherein it was decided that final examination may now be completed by 31.01.2025," the notice further added.
However, the notice has not yet been uploaded on the NMC website and is currently doing rounds on social media platforms.
