Chhattisgarh Medical Education Update

The Director of Medical Education (DME Chhattisgarh) informed about the MS General Surgery seat at Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhilai.

As per the notice, one seat in MS General Surgery was not allotted to anyone in the counseling process. As per the order of the Honorable Supreme Court, the seat is being released. The order was issued on 30th November 2022. The seat must be filed according to the institute's admission rule.

Established in 2013, Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, is a private institution managed by Shri Gangajali Shri Shankaracharya Education Society. SSIMS offers a wide range of courses from UG (MBBS), PG (MS, MD), and Paramedical certificate courses. MBBS course is for 4.5 years +1 year internship, PG courses are for 3 years, and paramedical courses are for a 1-year duration.

Recently, a team reported that DME on 30th November 2022 scrutiny and admission process for PG Medical courses was conducted. For PG Medical, the admission process and scrutiny were out at Raipur Institute of Medical Science, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Smriti Chikitsa Mahavidyalaya Raipur, and Shri Shankaracharya Institute of Medical Sciences Bhilai. All the medical colleges were requested to send one representative to the place of scrutiny to complete the admission process.

The Directorate of Medical Education conducts NEET MDS and NEET PG counseling. The admissions are based on NEET MDS and NEET PG 2022. The seat allotment is done based on the choices filled by candidates, reservation, state merit rank, NEET MDS/NEET PG 2022 marks, and other factors.

DME is the administrative body of Chhattisgarh and overlooks Medical Education in the State through Medical and Dental Colleges. It plays a pivotal role in developing medical and paramedical personnel to cater to the health needs of the State. Research is another area of activity for the Medical Education Department.
