Sehore: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in the State, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Sunday that students securing more than 75 per cent marks in their board exams will receive scholarships.
In fact, the Chief Minister has promised to bear the cost of medical education of such meritorious students who will score more than 75% marks in their 12th standard exams.
While addressing an event, CM Chouhan announced that he will bear the fees of medical college, engineering college, IIT and law college. This surely comes as a huge relief for all those meritorious students who fail to fulfill their dreams of becoming doctors for the huge fees.
The cost of medical education in government medical college is comparatively lesser since the Government sponsors the cost of medical education for these seats. However, in the private medical colleges across the country, the educational cost is really high and therefore the students from moderate background are unable to avail these seats.

However, in case of Madhya Pradesh, the Chief Minister has now announced scholarships for meritorious students. "I already give laptops to students who scored more than 75% in their 12th standard exams. Now, I will also bear the fees of medical college, engineering college, IIT and law college," the Chief Minister was quoted saying by ANI.
Earlier this year, the National Medical Commission (NMC) had announced that fees for 50% seats in the private medical institutes would be at par with the fees for government medical colleges in that particular State/UT. However, the NMC decision was challenged before several High Courts and Supreme Court.
While the NMC fee order has not been implemented in most of the places, Madhya Pradesh became the first state to implement the NMC direction for Post Graduate Medical admission.
had earlier reported that the State Director of Medical Education had clarified in a notice that after removing 15% NRI quota seats, the fees for the 42.5 per cent of the remaining 85 percent general pool seats would be at par with the fees of Government medical colleges.
The recent announcement of the Madhya Pradesh CM to bear the cost of medical education for meritorious students should be read in the continuation of its earlier announcement for implementing the NMC fee order.
Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that NEET 2023 will be conducted on May 7th next year for admissions to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and BSc Nursing courses.
