The Director of Medical Education (DME Tamil Nadu) released the provisional rank for MBBS and BDS admission. The rank list for Management Quota, Government Quota, and Tamil Nadu Government School Candidates' 7.5% Reservation.

Based on the choices filled by candidates, reservation, state merit rank, NEET 2022 marks, and other factors, the authority conducts the seat allotment process. Candidates who will be allotted seats will be granted a provisional allotment order for admission. Then, the shortlisted candidates will have to report to the allotted institute to join the seat allotted.

Eligibility

  • Indian nationals can apply for Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS admission.
  • Non-residents of India (NRI) or Persons of Indian origin (PIO) are eligible for management/NRI quota seats.
  • Candidates 17 years or above are eligible as of 31st December 2022.
  • Students must pass class 12 with a minimum of 50% marks for the general category for Tamil Nadu MBBS 2022 admission. Students from SC/ST/OBC and PH categories need 40% and 45% marks in the class 12 examination.
  • Students must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects in class 12.

The Department of Medical Education plays a pivotal role in developing medical and para-medical personnel to cater to the health needs of the State. The department also has a role to play in establishing and maintaining well-equipped teaching institutions, which are the premier referral centers with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Research is another area of activity for the Medical Education Department.

DME is responsible for conducting MBBS/BDS counseling for 85% state quota and 100% of private colleges seats. Admission to 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats will be granted through NEET 2022 counseling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). There are three rounds of the counseling process, i.e., round 1, round 2, and the mop-up round for MBBS and BDS admission.

Recently, a team reported that the candidates willing to resign from the allotted seat of round 1 can now resign their seats till 19th October 2022. This is for PG Degree, PG Diploma, MDS, and DNB candidates for the academic year 2022-23. DME has extended the date of resignation. The previous date of resignation was till 12th October 2022.
