Nursing Colleges Affiliation Cancelled

Jabalpur: Taking action against 19 nursing colleges for several allegations of irregularities including the appointment of fake teachers, the Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council, Bhopal cancelled their affiliation.

Among these 19 nursing colleges, the maximum number of colleges are from Gwalior. The list includes six colleges from Gwalior, three colleges are from Bhopal, two colleges from Dhar, two from Datia, one from Indore, and one from Jabalpur.

Colleges that have lost affiliation:

• Sarva Dharma School of Nursing, Gwalior
• Madhuban School of Nursing, Indore
• PG College of Nursing, Gwalior
• Sailana College of Nursing, Ratlam
• Sri Rabindranath Tagore Institute of Professional Studies
• T.D. Institute of Professional Studies, Rewa
• G N S Nursing College, Datia
• Abhishek Nursing College, Gwalior
• Shri Swami Ji Maharaj College of Nursing, Datia
• BIPS School of Nursing, Gwalior
• Sukh Sagar College, Jabalpur
• RK Nursing College, Datia
• Gyan School of Nursing, Dhar
• Indore International College, Dhar
• J.B. Institute of Nursing, Gwalior
• Vaishnavi Institute of Nursing, Gwalior

FPJ adds that the Nursing Registration Council (NCR) had already derecognized these 19 colleges in the past. Apart from the Council, these colleges did not receive recognition from the Medical Sciences University's Executive Council as well.

As per the latest media report by the Free Press Journal, earlier this year, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted its report on the alleged Nursing Colleges scam case to the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Submitting the report, CBI mentioned that 50 per cent of the colleges were found to be operating fraudulently.

Further, the report also contained information about 140 out of 271 Nursing Colleges in the State. Taking note of the report, the HC bench had directed the Indian Nursing Council (INC) to match its data with CBI's data and present its report. Back then, the Court had also warned INC and the officials of medical colleges of an FIR in case of any tampering of data.

Last year, it was reported that taking stringent action against nursing colleges operating without adhering to the prescribed norms, the Gwalior bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court had directed the State and the Nursing Council on Wednesday to shut down 70 such bogus Nursing Colleges belonging to the Gwalior-Chambal region.

Apart from this, the HC bench had also asked the State to conduct a departmental inquiry against the concerned officials who granted permission to those nursing colleges to operate. Among the 70 colleges, 31 belonged to Gwalior, while Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, and Datia lost 16, 12, 9, and 2 colleges respectively.
