Kota: In an unfortunate incident, a 20-year-old NEET-UG aspirant from Uttar Pradesh allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his paying guest (PG) accommodation in Dadabadi, Kota.
Although the exact reason for his step is unclear, the initial findings of the police investigation suggest that he had been battling a neurological disorder and was receiving treatment for it.
The incident occurred Wednesday night after the student returned to his room after attending coaching classes at around 1 pm. However, he failed to respond to knocks on the door of his room and calls from family members following which the caretaker of the PG alerted the police. After police arrived at the scene, they entered the room and found his body hanging from the ceiling.

During preliminary investigation, the police found a suicide note in his room which mentioned, “Mummy-Papa khush rahiye, main ab aap par bojh nhi ban na chahata” (Mummy–Papa stay happy, I don’t want to be a burden on you anymore). The police are currently investigating the content of the note.
Speaking to Indian Express, the station house officer (SHO) of Kota’s Dadabadi, Naresh Meena said “We have informed his parents. They said they would reach Kota by Thursday night. We were told that the student was suffering from some neurological disease because of which he used to remain disturbed. He was also taking treatment for the same. Further investigation will take place after his parents arrive,” said Meena.
The body of the student who hailed from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh was placed in the hospital mortuary until the arrival of his parents for the post-mortem.
Police informed PTI that the student had been preparing for the medical entrance test in Kota for the past six months. SHO Meena told HT, “He has been preparing for NEET in a reputed coaching centre in Kota for the last three years. However, he left the course and returned home last year. He took re-admission in the same course six months ago and started staying in a PG alone."
This is reported to be the 15th suspected suicide death by a coaching student in Kota this year.
