Times Of India reports that a case has been registered following her complaint with the cyber cell. The fake Facebook profile was created on June 22nd. The medico in her complaint alleged that she found out a fake Facebook profile that used her name and details without her consent. She also informed that objectionable issues and posts have been made from the profile. One of the posts stated that the medico had been irresponsible in performing her COVID duties. Such posts were made from that profile impersonating the medico in order to defame her, she alleged in her complaint.

The medico felt harassed and deeply disturbed by the activities of the fake profile. TOI reports that under such circumstances, she has now sought the help of the cyber cell and lodged a complaint.

The FIR stated "the accused person has also misused the same impersonating the complainant to hamper her social standing and reputation. The accused has committed an offence under section 43, 66, and 60C of the Information Technology Act 2000." Impersonating someone without their consent is a punishable offense under cyber laws. The cyber cell is taking action to nab the offender.
