KGMU To Begin Post-Doctoral Certificate Courses In 28 Depts

Lucknow: Bringing good news to the doctors aspiring to pursue higher studies, King George's Medical University (KGMU) is going to start a post-doctoral certificate course (PDCC) in a total number of 28 departments.
Doctors, who have completed their post-graduation, will be eligible to pursue PDCC. The tenure of this programme is of two years. In KGMU, this post-doctoral certificate course will be offered in various departments including medicine surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and psychiatry.
The decision to start PDCC courses at the University was taken on Tuesday, during a meeting of the members of the academic council of the university. The Vice-Chancellor of KGMU Prof Soniya Nityananda chaired the meeting. The meeting was also attended by the members of the academic council, heads of all departments, and professors.
During the meeting of the Academic Council, it was decided to ensure that the institute had the standards for starting the PDCC course. It was also decided that the number of courses and the number of seats approved can be determined based on the number of doctors present in that particular department, the number of OPD and admitted patients, availability of beds etc. The members of the council have approved this unanimously.

Officials informed Live Hindustan that the matter will now be put before the Executive Council of the University and after the final approval, the courses will commence.
As per the daily, the officials also informed that currently, PDCC courses are running in some departments of the University. However, in recent months, a total number of 28 departments applied to the Dean's office to start the PDCC Fellowship course. After this, the administration of the Institute has decided to unify the rules to start the course.
Located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, KGMU is a medical school, hospital, and medical university. The University has around 1250 undergraduate students (including 280 dental students) and 450 postgraduate students.
