New Delhi:Kasturba Hospital, a municipal corporation-run facility in OldDelhi, is facing allegations after a woman claimed that doctors inserted a birth control device during her Caesarean delivery without her knowledge or consent. "Things were okay until recently, when I began feeling pain. I then found a thread hanging out of my body. I told my mother about it and we realised it was from a copper T device. We were shocked since I hadn't asked for it nor was I informed about its insertion." The incident has sparked outrage from her family, who are questioning how such a personal decision was made without her permission. The woman’s husband said the thread was causing significant discomfort, prompting them to visit the hospital on Monday. At the OPD, they were informed that the necessary tool to remove the thread was unavailable and were asked to return the next day. On Tuesday, when they came back, they were told the doctor was in the operation theatre. After some time, the doctor arrived, but informed them that the condition needed to be treated at a private hospital. The patient's husband alleged, "I went to discuss the whole issue with the whole issue with the hospital's medical superintendent, who heard me out briefly but soon dismissed me. Also, she didn't ask me file an application or a complaint", reports TOI. The woman stated she now feels unsafe returning to the same hospital and fears further negligence or mistreatment.
