                                    New Delhi: In a significant development for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Shri Karan Singh, a seasoned bureaucrat and a 1999-batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, has been appointed as the additional director (administration) at the prestigious institution.
The appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, is set to extend until August 1, 2027, as per a personnel ministry order.

Shri Karan Singh brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished service record to his new role. Having served in various capacities within the Indian Railway Traffic Service, he has demonstrated a keen understanding of administrative intricacies and a commitment to public service. His appointment is expected to fortify the administrative framework at AIIMS, a premier medical institution in the country.
Karan Singh, IRTS 1998 batch, possesses extensive experience spanning over two decades across various departments of the Railways. He is an alumnus with a Bachelor's in Science and a Master's in Science specializing in Bio-Chemistry. During his stint at the Railways, he has contributed to the planning, marketing, and development of new freight terminals within his division, overseen the punctuality and loading of freight, and ensured coordination with other departments to facilitate the seamless operation of passenger and freight trains. Additionally, he has managed the interface with adjacent railway divisions, dealing with day-to-day operational matters, crew management, and interchange-related issues, among others.
