Jorhat: Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) has come under the spotlight as a youth has been arrested on the charges of allegedly assaulting a doctor of the hospital. Jorhat police have arrested the accused based on the complaint filed by Dr. Ananta Biswas on Thursday.
The youth is a 34-year old man and has been identified by the police as one Hemanta Saikia. Saikia hails from Gharphalia village that is under Pulibor Police Station.

As per a recent media report by the North East News, the man came to Jorhat medical college with his child. His child was having problems as an object got inserted into the ear of the child.
North East News adds that the man allegedly assaulted Biswas, a junior doctor at the hospital, on Thursday night with allegations of delay in attending the child.
JMCH officials denied those allegations and clarified that the child had been properly attended to. With the casualty doctors being busy with emergency cases, a junior doctor of the hospital examined the child, informed the JMCH official to North East News.
Following the alleged assault, the junior doctor filed an FIR against Mr. Saikia at the police outpost at JMCH campus. Based on the complaint, Jorhat Police has registered a case against Mr. Saikia under Sections 294448, 325, 353 of the IPC and relevant sections of the Assam Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Act, 2011, adds the report.
