ICMR Training Program Announcement

Delhi: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has announced the conduction of training courses on Harnessing the Power of Immunology in Medicine: Tools, Translation and Therapy.

ICMR-National Institute for Research in Reproductive and Child Health (NIRRCH), Indian Council of Medical Research, Mumbai, will conduct the training program, which will be by the Department of Health Research (DHR) Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The program will be conducted from 15th May 2023 till 9th June 2023.

Those willing to participate in the training program were asked to apply till 14th April 2023 by using the link https://training.nirrh.res.in/. Selected candidates need to confirm their participation by 24th April 2022 by submitting a cheque for Rs. 2000/- drawn in favour of “The Director, NIRRCH, Mumbai” (refundable after course completion).

ICMR has further stated that a maximum of twenty participants will be enrolled. No fee is charged to the participants. Upon request, outstation participants may be provided lodging facilities at a nominal cost. Travel and food will have to be arranged by the candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Faculty of medical colleges, Model Rural Health Research Units (MRHRUs), Multidisciplinary Research Units (MRUs) and research institutes/universities with MBBS/MD/PhD degree
  • Candidates from North-East and semi-urban/rural regions of India are encouraged to apply
  • Candidates in service should forward their application through the proper channel with a “No Objection Certificate” from the head of the Institution

About the Course

The course aims at imparting conceptual and technical know-how related to current paradigms and tools employed in Immunodiagnostics and Immunotherapeutics. Theoretical and practical training on various tools available for Immunodiagnosis, such as ELISA, CLIA and Flow cytometry used in clinical practice and biomedical research, will be provided.

The participants will also be oriented towards ‘State-of-the-art’ applications in Immunotherapeutics for disease management, such as Monoclonal Antibodies and Cellular therapies, including CAR T-cells. This 4-week course will cover lectures, lab tutorials and interactive sessions with industry and academic experts.

Participants will be given hands-on training for ELISA, Immunophenotyping, FACS sorting and demonstration of Single Cell Omics. The course also comprises a module on Research Methodology. They will be exposed to statistical analysis tools and training in developing research proposals and grant writing. This course is coordinated by Dr Geetanjali Sachdeva, Director, NIRRCH and convened by Dr Vainav Patel and Dr Vikrant Bhor.

Health Research Scheme of DHR

The scheme is intended to create a pool of talented health research personnel in the country by upgrading the skills of faculty of medical colleges, mid-career scientists, medical students and others. This program aims to encourage and support the trainees to develop and take up research projects for addressing health problems of national relevance.
