Hyderabad:A womandoctorfrom Alwal, Hyderabad, was allegedly defrauded of over Rs 30 lakh by a man she was in a relationship with, and was laterblackmailedwhen she confronted him about marriage. Also Read: Elderly doctor conned out of Rs 8 crore in digital arrest scam Speaking to theHindu, police said the victim, a young doctor from HMT Colony, became acquainted with Subrahmanyam, 32, of Ameenpur, through social media. The two developed a relationship, during which he claimed he needed money to settle payments with some people. Claiming that he was holding a senior position in an online delivery company and citing family problems, the suspect gained her trust and collected Rs 25 lakh from her over a period of time. He also took 15 tolas of gold ornaments from the victim’s mother, reports theTelangana Today. However, the situation took a disturbing turn when the doctor brought up the subject of marriage. The accused allegedly began threatening to leak her personal photographs on social media, attempting to manipulate and silence her. Realising she had been deceived and was being blackmailed, the woman courageously approached the Alwal Police and lodged a formal complaint. Based on her statement, a case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is currently underway. Cybercrime and online relationship scams have seen a concerning rise in recent years, with many victims being targeted through emotional manipulation and false promises. According to the news reports, the accused man created a fraudulent profile under the name Harsha Cherukuri, projecting himself as a successful and sincere match.
