Himachal: CM Virbhadra Singh Wants Early Setting Up Of AIIMS Hospital

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh called on Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda here and sought early setting up of an AIIMS hospital in the state.

The Chief Minister said the state had identified 1,200 bighas of land out of which 750 bighas had been transferred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Bilaspur town.

The documentation of forest clearance of the remaining land has been under consideration of the union government, an official statement quoting the Chief Minister said.

Singh sought intervention of the central government so that the hospital could be made operational at the earliest.

He also demanded early approval of the proposals of the state to establish a Mother Child Health Care Centre at Bilaspur and a 50-bed hospital at Ghumarwin.

While discussing on opening of three medical colleges at Nahan, Hamirpur and Chamba towns, Singh said all formalities have been completed to start classes in Dr. Y.S. Parmar Medical College in Nahan from September.

Likewise, work is under progress for construction of medical college buildings in Hamirpur and Chamba. Nadda assured him that the authorities concerned had been directed to speed up approvals for the projects.
