Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Update
JAMMU: To analyse the increase in MBBS and PG seats in Jammu and Kashmir, the Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar, has reviewed the implementation of the Centrally Scheme for the state.

The Secretary also directed the Principals of GMC Jammu and Srinagar to confirm if introducing additional PG seats in their respective colleges is possible.
Director Medical Colleges have a brief report on the increase of the MBBS and PG seats in Medical Colleges and their status of implementation. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is dedicated to trying to ensure immediate completion of projects and submission of Utilization Certificates.
Principal GMC, Srinagar, informed that the works necessary to increase the 30 MBBS seats are in progress while for 19 PG seats the funds shall be released by the Union Ministry after the MoU is signed and submitted, reports Daily Excelsior.
The secretary issued instructions for the swift completion of the ongoing MBBS and PG seat construction projects in both colleges. In addition to asking the Principal Medical College Jammu to deliver the DPR to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he instructed the Principal GMC Srinagar to ensure the submission of the MoU.
All the concerned authorities including the Principal Government Medical College, Jammu and Srinagar, Director Medical Colleges J&K, Director Finance H&ME, Joint Director Planning, H&ME, and other senior officers of the department attended the meeting.
