Health Ministry Appoints Pan India Govt Analyst For All Classes Of Drugs As Per Drugs And Cosmetics Act

New Delhi: Through a recent gazette notification, the Union Health Ministry has appointed Dr Raghuram Reddy Adidala as government analyst for the whole of India in respect of all classes of drugs at the Central Drugs Testing Laboratory, Hyderabad.
In exercise of the power conferred by sub-section (2) of section 20 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940), the Central Government has appointed Dr Raghuram Reddy Adidala at Central Drugs Testing Laboratory, Hyderabad as Government Analyst for the whole of India in respect of all classes of drugs, except the few classes of drugs mentioned ahead.
According to the sub-section (2) of section 20 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940), the Central Government may also, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint such persons as it thinks fit, having the prescribed qualifications, to be Government Analysts in respect of such drugs or [classes of drugs or such cosmetics or classes of cosmetics] as may be specified in the notification.

Now as per the recent gazette notice, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 20 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (23 of 1940) read with rule 44 of the Drugs Rules, 1945, the Central Government hereby appoints Dr Raghuram Reddy Adidala at Central Drugs Testing Laboratory, Hyderabad to be the Government Analyst for the whole of India in respect of all classes of drugs, except the classes of drugs mentioned below, namely:―
(1) Sera;
(2) Solution of Serum Proteins intended for injection;
(3) Vaccines (parenteral and Oral);
(4) Toxins;
(5) Antigens;
(6) Anti-toxins;
(7) Sterilized Surgical Ligature and Sterilized Surgical Sutures;
(8) Bacteriophages;
(9) Anti-sera for veterinary use;
(10) Vaccine for veterinary use;
(11) Toxoid for veterinary use;
(12) Diagnostic Antigens for veterinary use;
(13) VDRL Antigen;
(14) Human Blood and Human Blood Products including components, to test for freedom for HIV antibodies;
(15) Blood Grouping reagents and diagnostic kits for Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Hepatitis B surface Antigen and Hepatitis C Virus;
(16) Condoms
The team had earlier reported that the Central Government had appointed Shri Hitesh Kumar Khare and Dr Debasis Maiti as Government Analysts at the Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory in Chandigarh.
In addition, the Union Health Ministry recently named Shri Amar Jyoti Chamuah, Shri Dilip Kr. Sarkar, Smt. Rinku Kalitaat, and Shri Arun Kumar Das as Government Analysts at the Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory, Guwahati.
The CDTL, Hyderabad is one of the National Statutory Laboratories of the Government of India, functioning under administrative control of the Drug Controller General (India), Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. It is one of the newly established laboratories in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India, engaged in testing , research and analysis of drugs and cosmetics as per the Drug and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
