
Health Minister Ma Subramanian Inaugurates 700 Bedded Hospital Block At Kallakurichi Medical College

Kallakurichi: To ensure quality healthcare for the poor and tribals from Kalvarayan hills, Health Minister Ma Subramanian inaugurated a 700-bedded hospital block of Government Medical College, Kallakurichi on Saturday at Siruvangur to provide dedicated healthcare services.
A fund of 398.55 crores was funded for constructing a government medical college and hospital near Siruvankur Samathuvapuram in Kallakurichi.
Subsequently, the medical college was built and in the year 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it in the presence of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin through a video presentation. The college has been functioning since the last academic year, 2021-2022.

The opening ceremony of this medical college hospital was held on March 11. Public Works Department Minister E.V. Velu, District Collector Shravan Kumar, Kallakurichi Collector Sravan Kumar Jatavath and College Principal Usha were present.
"The location of the hospital with 23 departments, including specialised trauma care, was a significant tertiary medical infrastructure in the district," Health Minister told TH.
Foundation stones have been laid for the construction of pharmaceutical warehouses at the cost of Rs.6 crores each in 4 districts of Kalakurichi district, namely Alatur, Chengalpattu, Thenkasi and Tirupattur.
"Work on the construction of two Urban Health and Wellness Centres at Kallakurichi and Tirukovilur is progressing fast. A total of 708 centres were sanctioned across the State. In the first phase, nearly 500 of these facilities would be inaugurated by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin soon." he said.
Ministers AV Velu and Subramanian also inaugurated a nursing building constructed at the cost of Rs 25 lakhs at Thaniyam village and a new auxiliary health center constructed for Rs 30 lakhs each at Madur and Bukravari villages.
