In the complaint, the sister of the patient stated that he was admitted to the Mahatma Gandhi hospital on September 21st as he was suffering from bowel problems. He was operated on by the doctors on September 30th and was in a stable condition. On the night of 5th October, he was beaten and assaulted up by some of the hospital staff, she alleged.
He was injured and the whole incident has been recorded in the CCTV footage of the hospital but what led the health workers to beat a patient who just underwent surgery has not been clarified yet.
Times of India reports that the complainant also stated that after receiving a beating from the doctors, the condition of the patient declined and the hospital was negligent in providing him with proper medical care. She further added that the doctor did not give necessary information to the family of the deceased regarding his declining health condition and suddenly informed them about the death.
The Sub-inspector Kulbir Singh confirmed that the matter is still under investigation and a case has been registered following the complaint of the kin of the patient. However there has been no confirmation of the alleged beating yet, hence neither the accused have been identified nor any arrest has been made in this regard yet, reports the daily.
