Surat: A city-based paediatrician, who was earlier arrested by the local police for allegedly raping a woman under the pretext of marrying her, has now been granted conditional bail by a sessions court.
The team had earlier reported that the doctor, owner of a child hospital was sent to jail after a married woman filed a complaint against him. She claimed that she first came in contact with the accused doctor through a matrimonial website. Due to family reasons, they could not get married and she was married to a Charted Accountant. She then shifted to Malaysia.
The lady claimed that they first met in a hotel in 2013 where he allegedly raped her. She alleged that the doctor repeatedly raped her at several meetings in the hotel for four years.
The complainant alleged that she became pregnant and two years back she delivered a baby boy. The incident was unknown to her family. Later, she confronted her husband and informed him about the matter.

The woman then approached the doctor who had allegedly promised to marry her but he did not go by his words. It was after his refusal of marriage, the woman approached the Sayajigunj police and filed the complaint of rape and criminal intimidation against the doctor.
Consequently, the paediatrician was arrested and then was sent to judicial custody. The accused doctor applied for bail on the very next day of his arrest where he claimed that the complaint was filed to extort money from him.
He claimed that the woman got the offence registered six years after the crime was committed so that she could blackmail him.
The police and the complainant filed separate affidavits in the court opposing paediatrician bail application. The court, however, granted bail to the doctor on surety money of Rs 25,000 and 11 conditions.
The asked him to remain present at the Sayajigunj police station on the 10th of every month until the investigators file a charge-sheet against him, reports TOI.
He was barred from entering Vadodara city except when the investigator calls him for the probe of the case. The court further asked him to deposit his passport and directed not to leave the country.
