Gujarat: In a stringent view of alleged condemnable behavior, around 25 residents doctors attached to Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI) were directed to immediately vacate their hostel for allegedly entering into a late-night brawl in a drunkard state.
As per a recent media account, the resident doctors who were staying at the hostel of Gujarat Cancer Society (GCS) medical college got into a fight among themselves during the wee hours of the night, where one of the doctors was allegedly intoxicated.
The scuffle reportedly started off with two of the first-year resident doctors having arguments, that soon turned into a heated conversation between the two doctors where one of them was allegedly drunk.
In no time, the other resident doctors got engaged in the fuss. Resultantly, two groups were formed, thereby, creating a ruckus.
Before the situation got out of control, GCS Hospitals Director Dr. Keerthi Bhai Patel was informed about the whole scenario. The Higher Officials quickly arrived at the spot and took control of the situation. The next day the 25 of the resident doctors received a notice to vacate their rooms.

However, when asked to confirm the incident, GCRI director Dr. Shashank Pande stated that these are only rumors and no such incident has taken place in the hostel premises. He also clarified that the resident doctors were asked to vacate the hostel because GCS medical College needs more room for its own students.
"GCS medical college needs more rooms for its own students. Hence, they asked 25 of our students to vacate the rooms," Pande stated.
Commenting on the importance of maintaining discipline in the hostel premises, Doctor Patel told Ahemdabad Mirror that "discipline has to be maintained in the medical college hostel or hospital. Bringing in any illegal object inside the premise is indiscipline. It is important to take strict action to prevent such activities. Hence we have taken action against one student." however he did not confirm any such fight between the doctors inside the hostel.
