Government Sets Up Standing Selection Committees For 6 AIIMS To Fill Up Vacancies

New Delhi: The government has constituted separate Standing Selection Committees (SSCs) for six AIIMS to facilitate expeditious filling of vacancies in them, the Rajya Sabhawas informed.

Health Minister J P Nadda in a written reply said a total of 305 posts of various faculty disciplines were created for each of six functional AIIMS namely in Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.




He said vacant faculty posts are being regularly by the institutes depending on the requirement but as high standards have to be maintained in selection, keeping in view of the stature of these institutes of national importance, all the positions "could not" be filled up.

"Special focus was given in the past one year on filling up of faculty positions. In all 1,300 faculty positions were and selections held. However, only 301 faculty positions could be filled. Presently there are 532 faculty in position in all six AIIMS.

"Further unfilled vacancies are being re-. All the institutes have been advised to fill up the posts on regular basis. To facilitate expeditious filling up of vacancies, separate SSCs have been constituted for each of the aforsaid six AIIMS," Nadda said.

He said the upper age limit for direct recruitment against the post of professor and additional professor in the six AIIMS has been raised from present 50 years to 58 years.

"This will make available experienced willing faculty of various government medical colleges where retirement age is 58/60 years," the Health Minister said.

He said that various positions of senior resident and junior resident are also and filled up on need basis by the respective AIIMS.
