Patna: Taking strict actions against the protesting junior doctors, the authorities of Patna-based Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital has expelled nine PG students for six months. The students have been charged with leading an agitation and manhandling the principal during their strike from February 24 for COVID-19 monetary incentives.
The College Inquiry Committee submitted a report regarding the matter on Monday evening; based on the report, the college administration has taken the decision to expel those students. As per the decision of the college administration, the students would be banned from entering the college campus for six months and they would also be denied government incentives and funds.
Various media reports have added that the expelled students are mainly MD and MS students of the session 2020-2022. They belong to several departments including the Department of Disease, Anatomy, Chemistry, Tantra, Agadantra, Rasastha, Agad Tantra among others.

Prabhat Khabar has added that the nine expelled students had been asked to inform when they would appear next at the college after a period of six months. They would also be deprived of writing their examinations.
As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the medicos had been protesting with their demands for the release of COVID-19 incentives. One of the PG students of the department of Ayurved Samhita and Sidhanta had alleged that the Principal was deliberately not releasing the incentive money as the medicos belonging to other medical colleges had been given the incentives for their COVID duty.
However, things took a turn when the peaceful protest had allegedly converted into locking the college and hospital staff and patients inside the hospital campus. While commenting on the matter, the Principal of the institute has informed the daily that peace has been restored to the campus after taking strict measures against the miscreants.
He also told the daily, "An FIR has been lodged against five PG students at Kadamkuan police station while nine PG students were expelled for agitation. On Wednesday and Thursday last, the students protested in a peaceful manner. But they crossed all limits when they locked up the college and hospital staff and patients inside the campus. Several people sustained injuries when they tried to escape by climbing over the main gate."
Speaking to TOI, a senior college official informed how OPD functioning had been badly affected due to the strike of the medicos. He further said, "The students locked principal Dr. Dineshwar Prasad in his office and other staff and patients inside the hospital building on February 26."
Meanwhile, on the incentive issue, the Principal of the Government Ayurvedic College has informed the daily, "The junior doctors went on strike for the incentive money for working during the pandemic. The college administration has already sent the request letter to the health department and it will be released soon."
