Goa Dental College MDS Fee Reduced After Backlash

Panaji: The Goa State Government has taken the decision to strike down the hike in the annual fee for the MDS program offered by Goa Dental College. This was done after fee hike were met with serious backlash from the students.
The fees for the MDS programme at Goa Dental College has now been slashed and reduced from Rs 1.2 lakh a semester to Rs 52,000 per semester.
The new directives also stated that the fee can only be hiked by 5% each year at the Goa Medical College as well as the Goa Dental College.

"The fees revised for MDS courses in Goa Dental College and hospital are again revised and reduced retrospectively with effect from November 6th, 2020, on par with MD/MS courses at Goa Medical College," the circular issued by the Under-Secretary (health) reads, quotes The Times of India.
The state has also promised that any excess money paid by the students as fee will be refunded or adjusted in future payments.
"The government has decided that henceforth every academic year the tuition fees for all courses at Goa Medical College and Goa Dental College will stand revised by five percent automatically, until the government considers further revision," the circular further states.
The Goa Dental College & Hospital was envisioned to generate technical and professional manpower in dentistry in this state and to provide dental care delivery system to the public at large.
It acts as a referral centre in the state for dental services and since 1980 has been rendering specialized services through nine departments in various specialties which provide the students clinical exposure and experience in imparting dental care to the patients.
