New Delhi:Amid the growing frustration among the aspirants regarding the lack of clarity on theNational Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2025Counselling schedule, the doctors have requested the Union Health Ministry's intervention to expedite the admission process. Writing to the Minister, theFederation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA)has highlighted how the systemic delay in commencing the admission process undermines both the medical education and healthcare delivery across the nation. FORDA has demanded intervention by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and theMedical Counselling Committee (MCC)on the release of the finalised seat matrix on the MCC website immediately. Furthermore, the association has also requested the commencement of Round I counselling registration according to the published timeline, as well as the start of the academic session without further delay. It has also sought transparent updates on Supreme Court proceedings (scheduled for October 28) that impact the counselling schedule. Speaking to , the National General Secretary of FORDA, Dr. Meet Ghonia, said, "The delay in NEET PG 2025 counselling is causing understandable concern among postgraduate aspirants and resident doctors. With government hospitals already functioning under significant workload, timely initiation of counselling is essential to maintain continuity in medical education and healthcare delivery. We sincerely urge the concerned authorities to expedite the process so that the upcoming academic session can begin smoothly and without further uncertainty." This year, the NEET PG 2025 entrance exam was conducted back in August, and the results were released on August 19, 2025. After much delay, MCC finally commenced the registrations for the NEET PG 2025 counselling. However, there is still no clarity regarding the counselling schedule. had earlier reported that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), which is in charge of conducting the AIQ counselling, informed the States that the regulatory authority, theNational Medical Commission (NMC), asked the committee to put the process on hold. Officials at the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee had explained that two primary reasons are resulting in the delay in theNEET PG counselling- pending plea before the Apex Court and the delay on the part of the National Medical Commission (NMC) in finalizing and approving the addition of new medical colleges and increasing the MD/MS seats in the existing medical colleges for 2025-2026. Referring to the months-long delay in the commencement of NEET PG counselling, FORDA mentioned in the letter addressed to the Union Health Minister, "We write with grave concern regarding the delay in NEET PG 2025 counselling. Nearly two months after the results were declared (August 19, 2025), the seat matrix remains incomplete with no concrete timeline for counselling commencement. Hospitals across India currently operate with only two resident batches, placing unsustainable pressure on the healthcare workforce and compromising patient care delivery. Thousands of qualified doctors await postgraduate training while the 2025-26 academic session faces jeopardy. This systemic delay undermines both medical education and healthcare delivery nationwide." "This crisis demands decisive action from your Ministry. Further inaction risks widespread demoralisation among medical professionals and continued compromise of patient care standards across the nation. We hope to receive your valued response at your earliest convenience regarding possible action steps to address this crisis," the letter further mentioned.
