Dr Vipin Koushal Takes Over As Medical Superintendent PGIMER

Jammu: Dr Vipin Koushal, a renowned doctor from Jammu has been appointed as the new Medical Superintendent Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh.
Dr Vipin Koushal, the new MS who assumed the charge from Dr. Gupta is an alumnus of GMC Jammu. He had his early education at Government School Reasi and Ranbir Higher Secondary Jammu. He pursued his Master's degree in Hospital Administration at AIIMS New Delhi and presently lives in Chandigarh reaching out to the poor and needy.
Dr Koushal served as the Incharge of Nehru Hospital Extension PGIMER. He also served as Medical Superintendent AIIMS Bathinda, Nodal Officer of Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organizations under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India etc. He also worked as Medical Superintendent GMC Sector 32 Chandigarh for four years. In the course of his glorious career, he ensured profound reforms and effective administration in the health sector.
He has taken over the charge after the superannuation of Dr AK Gupta who was also from Jammu. He has earned a reputation for being one of the longest-serving Medical Superintendent-cum-Professor in the nation.
Dr Gupta was associated with the PGIMER Chandigarh since January 1996 and served a significantly long period as the Head, Department of Hospital Administration of the facility.

In his four decades-long career, Dr Gupta has achieved many milestones and appreciation. In various institutions especially the PGIMER Chandigarh, he was popularly known as `Teacher of the Teachers', reports Daily Excelsior. He is an alumnus of GMC Jammu and AIIMS.
He was awarded Commonwealth Medical Fellowship for one year, availed at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. Dr Gupta is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. He has been the mentor to numerous students who achieved high professional ranks like Lieutenant Generals, Air Marshal, Director AIIMS, Professors and Heads of the Department of top Institutes in India.
