Appointment of Dr Sachidananda Mohanty

Srinagar: Dr Sachidananda Mohanty, a renowned professor in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, has been appointed as executive director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Awantipora, Kashmir.

His appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) after the committee formally revoked the appointment of Lt. Gen. Anup Banerjee as the executive director of AIIMS Awantipora, noting that he did not join the institute following his appointment in June 2022.

Dr Mohanty has been given the charge on a deputation/short-term contract basis for a period of 3 years.

An order issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions in this regard stated, "The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Dr Sachidananda Mohanty, who has also served as medical superintendent AIIMS Bhubaneswar, as executive director of AIIMS, Awantipora."

"Cancellation of appointment of Lt Gen Anup Banerjee as executive director, AIIMS Awantipora, on contract basis", it said.

Appointment of the following candidates, with a mode of recruitment indicated against their names, to the posts of Executive Director, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Level 15 of the Pay Matrix, for a period of 03 years w.e.f. the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till attaining the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earlier", the order reads.

Dr Mohanty completed his MBBS and MD in Forensic Medicine & Toxicology from MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Odisha and served as the medical superintendent at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

As per his bio on LinkedIn, Dr Mohanty said, "Experienced Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. Skilled in E-Learning, Research Design, Lecturing, Science, and Curriculum Development. Strong education professional graduated from MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, Odisha."
