Doctors At Govt Rajaji Hospital Successfully Remove Metal Fish Hook Stuck Inside Eye Of Child

Madurai: The Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) doctors here successfully removed a metal fish hook that was stuck inside the left eye of a four-year-old girl.
In a press release, GRH Dean Dr J Sangumani said that the fish hook accidentally got stuck inside the girl's eye when she was playing in Sivaganga. She was rushed to the Government Sivaganga Medical College and Hospital and then referred to the GRH. On examination by the ophthalmologists, it was found that the girl's left eye was swollen and severely injured with the fish hook dangling from the torn ocular tissues.

He said surgery was performed by a team of doctors under the supervision of Dr Selvakumar, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia and Dr Vijayashanmugam, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology. The hook was successfully removed from the eye and the damaged ocular tissues were rectified.
The vision of the girl has been restored and she will be discharged tomorrow, the release added
