New Delhi:In a shocking incident, a 27-year-olddoctorfrom Delhi’sSafdarjung Hospitalwas allegedly raped by a man who posed as an Indian Army officer after befriending her through social media. The accused, who actually works as a delivery agent with Amazon, was arrested by Delhi Police following a raid in the Chhatarpur area. According to the news reports, the accused befriended the doctor on Instagram earlier this year and continued communicating with her over WhatsApp. To gain her trust, he allegedly introduced himself as a Lieutenant posted in Kashmir and sent her photographs of himself in a military uniform to support his claim. Police subsequently conducted a raid in Chhatarpur and arrested the accused. During questioning, Malik disclosed that he had purchased the Army uniform online from a shop in Delhi Cantonment, reportsIndia Today. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions related to rape, cheating, and impersonation.
