New Delhi: Stating that the students cannot be put in jeopardy, the Supreme Court on Monday has decided that the counselling schedule for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2022 Examination shall not be changed.
Denying to interfere with the counselling, which is scheduled to commence from September 1, the top court bench comprising of Justices DY Chandrachud and Hima Kohli noted, "we cannot put the students in jeopardy".
Such remarks had been made orally by the Apex Court bench when a counsel referred to an issue related to NEET PG and sought clarity regarding the matter.
The matter which was raised before the Supreme Court concerned a plea filed by MBBS graduates who had challenged the decision of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBE) of not releasing the answer keys and question paper for the exam.
In their plea, the MBBS graduates registered under the State Medical Council, expressed their grievance that even though there are serious mismatches in their NEET-PG 2022 scores, NBE did not grant them the opportunity for re-evaluation.

had earlier reported that the doctors had also requested the court to set up a High Power Committee for examining the instances of alleged discrepancies in the scores so that fairness and transparency in the evaluation mechanism could be ensured. Apart from this, the plea further requested the court for framing guidelines for publishing question papers and answer keys after the examination.
It had also sought direction upon NBE for uploading individual OMR answer sheets in login account along with the question paper and the corresponding answer key, immediately after the examination and provide the candidates with an answer key and question paper for the exam, especially when they file an RTI application.
As per the latest media report by Live Law, when a counsel raised the issue before the top court bench and sought clarity regarding this, the bench denied interfering with the counselling schedule and stated clearly that it could not put the students in jeopardy.
The counsel was quoted submitting before the top court, "Counselling is to start from 1st September. Kindly list it before that."
Responding to this, the bench clarified, "We'll not interfere. Let the NEET PG counselling go through. Don't stall it anymore."
Earlier, while considering the matter on August 8 as well, the bench had refused to put a stay on the Counselling Process for NEET PG 2022 examination.
