Bareilly To Get Unani Medical College By March

Bareilly- After a long wait, finally, the first Unani Medical College of the division and the third of the state being built in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh is set to be completed by March 2024. The college has been developed as part of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, hence after the construction the building will be handed over to the Minority Welfare Department.
The medical college was supposed to start in March last year but more than 50 thousand metric tons of garbage was lying in the premises of the construction site. Neither the garbage was collected on time nor the budget was received on time, hence the construction kept on delayed.

Another reason for the delay in construction was the three-month-long disagreement between the Municipal Corporation and the PWD regarding the responsibility for garbage disposal. Later, the Public Works Department gave the contract for garbage disposal to a private company and about 25 thousand metric tons of garbage has been disposed of.
Now, talking to Amar Ujala, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Sanjeev Kumar said that “85 per cent of the work has been completed and the remaining 15 per cent of the work will be completed before March 31”.
In November 2022, the construction of Unani Medical College was commenced with a total expenditure of Rs 113 crore. It has been built on 6.3 acres of land. The college is also accompanied by a multi-storey hostel which will accommodate 144 boys and 122 girls.
