Karnataka: Increase in MBBS Seats at St. Johns Medical College
Bangalore will witness an increased accommodation of MBBS seats, with St. Johns Medical College announcing an increase in its MBBS student’s intake by 90 seats.
The decision will be implemented for the next academic year 2016-17. As a result, there will be 150 MBBS seats offered at the college, taking the total up from the existing number of 60 seats.
While the students will continue to appear for the entrance test, and will be allotted the seats based on the test; however, going forward the first 30 rank holders will be given an allotment preference irrespective of their categories.
As reported by the Hindu, the number of seats available at the St. Johns Medical College here is up by 90 for the coming academic year. The MBBS seats available for the academic year 2016-17 will be 150 instead of the earlier 60, it was announced on Wednesday. While all seats will be allotted on the basis of the results of the entrance test, the first 30 rank holders will be given preference irrespective of their categories.
- Of the remaining seats, 10 will be reserved for the institutional quota.
- One seat will be reserved for a differently-abled student.
- One seat will be reserved for a Union government nominee.
- The remaining 108 seats will be reserved for the Catholic community.
