New Delhi: Through a recent notification, the Ministry of AYUSH has informed the change of date of submission and timelines of new applications required to be submitted by authorities to establish new Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Sowa Rigpa Colleges, increase intake capacity in UG & PG courses and open new PG courses for the session 2022-23.
Earlier, the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), constituted under sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 was superseded by National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) with effect from 11th June 2021.
Now, in its 2nd meeting held on 29.06.2021, the NCISM decided:
A person or institute may submit a scheme to establish new Ayurveda/Unani/Siddha/Sowa Rigpa Colleges, increase intake capacity in UG & PG courses and to open new PG courses; to the Medical Assessment and Rating Board for Indian System of Medicine from 1st October 2021 to 31st October 2021 for the academic session 2022-23.
All the concerned authorities seeking the establishment of new Ayurveda/Unani/Siddha/Sowa Rigpa Colleges and institutes intending to increase intake capacity in UG & PG courses and to open new PG courses are advised to apply by the stipulated date.

The Ministry of Ayush was formed on the 9th of November 2014 with a vision of reviving the profound knowledge of our ancient systems of medicine and ensuring the optimal development and propagation of the Ayush systems of healthcare.
Earlier, the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISM&H) formed in 1995, was responsible for the development of these systems. It was then renamed as the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) in November 2003 with focused attention towards education and research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.
